  • Anusorn «Maew» Siripin

The “voice of silence” series of five acrylic paintings on canvas demonstrates Siripin Zen philosophy, cutting all external noise in order to listen to the inner voice.
He applies drawing techniques to his painted work whatever the media used (acrylic, oils or watercolor. This technique is particularly startling in his portraiture.
Professor Siripin is a specialist in portraiture and water colour techniques which he teaches at Silpakorn university.

Despite all the difficulties, Siripin fought hard to gain an education and support his family. Nothing indicated any artistic inkling in his youth as he completed his college education in science and mathematics.
The paradigm shift happened when, aged 17, he was introduced to the beauty of art by a teacher, Ajahn* Jandu. This meeting changed everything for Siripin who, there and then, decided to abandon Sciences and take a further 4 years to obtain the Art qualification required to sit Sulpakorn University entrance exam. !Sulpakorn university is the most famous Art establishment in Thailand with over 4000 hopeful vying for 50 places every academic year.
Aged 29, Siripin graduated with honors and proceeded to embark on a further five years of study to gain his Master in Fine Art. This was made possible by him teaching at University at the same time, thus funding the Master course.
Today Ajahn* Siripin splits his time between lecturing at Sulpakorn University and developing his art in his studio at the Hua Hin artist village.
    * Ajahn = teacher in Thai.
